Always cold and sensitive to air movement

My wife has hypothyroidism and is constantly cold.  She has been to several doctors and has medicine prescribed to help.  The medication she is using is at the maximum that Doctor will prescribe but she still is cold most of the time.
We live in Arizona and we sit outside at night and she will be putting on a sweater when it is 96º.  She can not tolerate the ceiling fan even at low speed at temperature below 100.  Her legs seem to bother her the most even when wearing jeans when air movement is happening.  This is really becoming an issue between us as I am hot when it is 96º

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Apart from hypothyroidism your wife could be having PCOD and Vit B12 deficiency and these two should be ruled out first. Vit B12 deficiency causes feeling cold, tiredness, dizziness etc. Low intrinsic factor in gut that hampers absorption, pernicious anemia, parasites in the gut, diet poor in Vit B12, Crohn;s disease, IBS, or poor metabolism by liver are the causes behind it. Please consult a doctor to rule these out. Take a diet rich in Vit B12 which should include meat and animal products, cheese, such as beef, liver, salmon, cod, and eggs. Take B12 supplements and breakfast cereals fortified with vitamin B12. Adrenal gland insufficiency too should be suspected if other things are normal.  Finding the cause is important.
I think you should discuss these possibilities with your wife’s doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Hope this helps. Take care!

I've also had an inactive thyroid and also hardening of the arteries.  I thought my chills and hot flashes were from my thyroid.  I was on .125mg  then 100mg now 88mgs. It could be her med's are to high dose.  But....my arteries are also blocked in legs, etc again..  Have the doctor check for both.
Best Wishes
