I cannot really comment about the exact mechanism but it is similar to one feeling dizzy after vomiting. The reverse flow of contents of the stomach cause a series of neurochemical transmissions, which cause dizziness. It is also related to changing pressure in the cochlear canals of the ear during this process. Normal GERD will not cause dizziness if under control. However a person with severe uncontrolled acidity or when such a person is hungry or his stomach is empty except for the acid, he may feel dizzy.
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Headaches and pain in temple area can be due to loud music. Another possibility is migraine triggered by loud noise.
This could be due to temporal arteritis. This causes pain while trying to chew. It could also be due to fluid or infection in internal ear. It could also be due to a temporomandibular joint disorder.
Tension headaches are the other possibility.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage without examining you. Do consult your family physician to start with. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
How does GERD cause dizziness? I and a number of my immediate family have GERD.
pain arround the temple area *
Hi Doctor , thanks for the response.
I been trying to figure out my symptoms for the last few days, and i think they could be side effects from my Anti-depressive medication i been taking ( Pexeva ) . I'll say more than dizzines is migrane (pressure arround my ears and forhead ) as well as nausea sometimes. I only been on the medication for a week and half and like i said my anxiety is almost gone but now I'm dealing with this. There's also times during the day i don't really feel like myself. :(
If this symptoms continue or get intense i will go to my doctor and check for other reasons. At this point I'm trying to figure out what causing this so i can feel relief and stop thinking the worst like a have a brain tumor or something..
what do you think? I know the mind can be tricky and make everything worst..
Thanks again for your time..
All the best
Hi

Dizziness could be due to postural hypotension (blood pressure falling with change of position), internal ear problems and cervical spondylitis. All these cause dizziness when you get up from lying down position. Cervical spondylitis and ear problems also cause dizziness on changing the position of the neck.
Other causes are anemia, GERD, hypoglycemia or low sugar and some endocrine problems. Certain types of epilepsies and seizures too can cause similar symptoms.
I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Have you had an ENT check out your ears? That has to do with balance. Also, have you been tested for Meniere's disease?
