A podiatrist is commonly referred to as a "foot doctor".  He/she is a specialist in the foot and has studied the disorders, diseases of the foot and ankle.  They can take xrays, do surgery on the foot, and refer you to physical therapy, or give you orthotics to help in your posture and other body problems commonly caused by the foot.  If your gait problem is caused by the anything to do with the foot, then that's the doc to see. Good luck
