Anyone want to take a gander?

I've been sick for 2 years. September 19th, 2009 I was admitted to the hospital at night with what the doctors thought was appendicitis. They were going to perform surgery the next day, but when they did all their scans and tests, it turned out my appendix, however useless that organ is, was completely healthy. I was having severe abdominal pains at the time, stayed at the hospital for 2 weeks (15 days, exactly), no results. That marked the beginning of a 2 year + trial full of nothing but tests after tests, and many speculations.

No diagnosis yet, but the doctors have made many guesses on what it could be, from Fibromyalgia, Polyfibromyalgia rheumatica, to Rheumatoid arthritis, to possible Kidney disease.
Although I don't think I would take anything said seriously on the net (Nothing personal, I just try to avoid being a hypochondriac), I am curious what people could gather from the symptoms I'll list, from oldest to newest.
So, for anyone who wants to take a gander, here's the symptoms;

- L/R lower abdominal pain
- L/R flank pain ranging from mild to severe (7-9 on pain scale)
- Hematuria in Urine (Usually with severe flank pain, moderately at its worst after waking up)
- Lower to mid back pain
- Fatigue
- Loss of appetite
- Increase weight gain
- Shaking and unsteadiness when standing
- CRP count 28.7
- Kidneys appear 'bright' on ultrasound

There are no clots in my Hematuria, and I have no history of kidney stones. I've been asked several times from many specialists if the blood is vaginal bleeding, but no, it most certainly is not. (I don't get my menstrual cycle for 3 months. And I'm sure any other woman can agree with me that the difference between hematuria and vaginal bleeding is easy to tell. I'll leave out the nasties.)

Thanks

PS ovarian cysts have these symptoms;
- L/R lower abdominal pain
- L/R flank pain ranging from mild to severe
- Hematuria in Urine -moderately at its worst after waking up)
- Lower to mid back pain
- Fatigue
- Loss of appetite
- Increase weight (moreover)
- Shaking and unsteadiness when standing
- Swollen Kidneys & Gallbladder
ovarian cysts, all women have them, ALL, but the degree of size and......are different in each of us. some are worst then others,Not to Minimize your pain at all but my girlfriend is 19 now but at 16 she had ovarian cysts issue. She found out when she missed her menstrual cycle &  symptoms. It’s been on going ever since. Her doctor told her the increased pain is from having intercourse; she was not happy with that answer but has not done anything since.(Sorry if that info offends you in any way) PS 'Clam' @ any health food store i was on Xanax and was getting use to it.walk into a health food store said i need to relax the gave me a somewhat large container with the word 'calm' on it
(www.best-magnesium-citrate.com) it worked. But you have to wean yourself down from the prescription,OK? do not just stop. :) let me know if it helps? side-note: i picked up from the Dollar Tree "relax pills' its a all natural supplement and it too, worked. i had issue.:) completely off scrip's

If your doc is close to retiring I would make sure to ask for a print up of all the things he has ruled out/all the things that has been documented. It's very frustrating to have to start all over again. Although a fresh pair of eyes may be a good thing, you shouldn't get all your tests done repeatably. Every single test you get done is one more does of radiation on your body. It's not necessarily harmful but getting tons of tests can't be good for your body.

If you're already on a sleep inducing prescription you really need to ask a dr before trying anything else. If it isn't causing any drowsiness, try taking it in the mornings on a non work day. Also, I would definitely try starting out with something herbal before trying prescriptions. So sleepy time teas and melatonin may help. Also try some exercise, if you can nothing too strenuous but maybe light aerobics or yoga, swimming. I also have found it helpful to do meditation and avoid media within an hour of sleep. (I get severe stress induced insomnia)

Hello, thank you both for responding.
I'm 20 years old (Turning 21 next week). I have been through many ultra sounds and CT scans in the last 2 years. Another note to list is that the ultra sounds always cause a moderate amount of pain, though I always attributed that to my ovarian cysts.
Another ultrasound for my kidneys is scheduled in the next couple weeks (ended up rushing myself to emerg yesterday due to elevated pain and the likes).
Depression would most certainly be evident in my case. Going two years without being close to an answer hasn't helped my mental stability. That, coupled with people suggesting this is in my head and I'm "doing it to myself" hasn't helped either. But I digress.
What you've listed does seem reasonable. Whether my Doctor has ruled these things out are hard to tell. I'm in a small town that has a severe lacking of good doctors, and I'm afraid mine is one of the best here, but he is also ill himself and close to retiring, thus he gets a bit vague during out appointments. I'll be sure to ask him these things when I next see him.
Do you guys have any recommendations for sleep aids? I am on a antidepressant that acts as a minor pain killer and sleeping aid, but I fear I'm becoming tolerant to it. So my sleep hasn't been well. I feel if I were able to sleep better, I could perhaps start focusing on everything else to try and help me feel better.

My first thought when I read pain was gall bladder/ liver - I'd assume they looked at that when they looked at your other organs in that area? Are your bowel movements normal? Sometimes a bowel movement can explain a lot of what's going on. Although the back pain and blood in urine makes me lean to kidney issues. Of course it could be multiple issues. The shaking might also be caused by low blood sugar from not having an appetite to eat. Many organs interact and if there is a problem at one end sometimes that can cause a problem at the other.

The fatigue, weight gain, and appetite change also stand out in my mind. It could be cause from the difficulty sleeping or mild depression over not being able to figure out what's going on. However, some hormonal imbalances can do that too. Have they ruled out uncontrolled diabetes, Hepatitis, ovarian cysts/cancer, thyroid problems, depression, etc.?

Wish I could be more help but that's all that comes to mind. Hopefully an answer is just around the corner. Although until they do figure it out, maybe you should take note on foods/activities that make it worse. Might give a doctor more to go on?
