Bad taste in mouth

I wasn't entirely sure where to post this so forgive me if I made a mistake. Anyway for several months now I've been noticing that when I happen to stick my tongue out for any reason there is a bad taste in my mouth. It isn't causing bad breath (at least I don't think so) and it does happen when my tongue isn't out, but only occasionally and it's less intense of a taste. It also seems to come and go, as sometimes it seems completely gone for a few days and then returns. Just wondering if anyone has any idea at all. Thanks a lot

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
It can be due to dental caries, gastro-esophageal reflux disease, sinusitis causing post nasal drip, salivary glands infection, pharyngitis or strep infection, medications like antibiotics, vitamins and antidepressants, poor oral hygiene, copper or lead toxicity and Sjogren’s syndrome.
OK here are a few tips for you. Try them. They should help. Having citrus juices, lemonade and foods marinated in vinegar. They help in washing away the metallic taste by producing more saliva. Brush your teeth and your tongue with a tongue cleaner at least twice in a day and surely at bedtime. It will help in lessening the metallic taste. Vit C tablets, over the counter oral mouthwashes will help fight the taste.

I’ll be surprised if these tips do not help. If they don’t, you’ll have to see a doctor. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
