Bladder pain and urination weakness

by bmclauri, Jun 11, 2007 12:00AM
Hi,
I am 24 years old. About 2.5 years ago, I felt a strange felling around my bladder. Not painful just awkward. I saw a dr and he did urine test etc for infection. No infections or anything showed up but the was a samall amount of blood. Saw specialist and got a ultrasound of bladder and kidneys and prostate. Nothing showed up.

Since then things have been fine, but a few months ago I noticed the following symptoms:

Sometimes I feel that bladder awkwardness again,
I can see blood in urine (i.e. sometimes it is dark)
Less control over power of urination.(i.e. comes out at a pace of which I have no control)
When I push on my abdomen (where bladder is) I feel a sharp pain. I noticed this today and this is what spurred me to research.

What potential conditions are these symtoms of?

I agree with the workup thus far.

If the was blood in the urine, the bladder and lower urinary tract needs to be more thoroughly evaluated.

I would recommend a cystoscopy to look at the bladder and rule out cancer.  A CT-pyelogram can also be considered to evaluate for masses.

If the urinary problems continue, urodynamic studies can be considered to look for functional problems leading to the loss of urinary control.

I would discuss these options with your urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
