Bleeding

Hi everyone.

Im on the pill and have been for over 2 years. I went on holiday last year and was due on so I took the pill 2 months straight. However with a week left to take I started getting really bad cramps and came on my period anyway so I decided to take the break then.
Since then I have been bleeding a bit about a week before Im actually meant to come on. Its been getting worse and now its at the point where I just about need to wear a pad a week before my actual period because of the bleeding. Its brownish like the start of your period but just stays that way for about 3-4 days then goes then I come on my actual period a few days later.
Could anyone suggest what I should do? I went to my doctor about it about 4-5 months ago and she said try to take the pill for an extra week or 2 until you take the break as it might just be that it wasn't used to the 2 months?
Would that help?
Sorry if I havent made any sense! :)
Thank you!

Thank you for your replies. Yes my pills designed to be taken every cycle, can that cause the withdrawal bleeding for just over a year as this is how long Ive had it. It was barely there at first but its been getting worse every month.
And would you suggest I do what my doctor told me to do and take an extra week of pills before my break? She said this will get me used to it?
Or should I come off the pill then take it again when I next come on my period. Would that sort it out as Im starting from the beginning again?
Thank you.

THE BROWN BLOOD IS OLD BLOOD SO THAT IS MOST LIKELY BECAUSE YOU HAVNT BEEN HAVING A PERIOD DUE TO BEING ON THE BCP SO IT MAY TAKE SOME TIME FOR THAT TO STOP BUT I WOULD NOT GO ON AND OFF OF IT LIKE YOUR DOING THAT WILL MESS YOUR CYCLE UP SORRY HOPE IT GETS BETTER SOON BUT JUST NO THAT IS A HORMONE YOUR TAKING AND THAT WILL CHANGE SEVERAL THINGS WITH A WOMANS FEMALE PARTS SO HANG IN THERE AND MY OPINION IF YOUR NOT TRYING TO GET PREGNANT THAN I WOULD STAY ON THE PILL TO NOT ONLY USE AS BC BUT TO KEEP YOURSELF REGULATED.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If the pills were so designed that you took them every cycle, then taking the active ingredient straight for 2 months can cause hormonal havoc and thus withdrawal bleeding as you faced. Consult your gynecologist and start the pills as usual this cycle. You should use extra precaution in form of condoms until you have consulted the gynecologist and discussed this. Take care!
