even as child i have never had regular bowel movements. Recently i turned 42yrs and it seems to be just as bad as all those years ago. My problem now is not only constipation but bloating. My stomach aches even at my bellybutton. The pressure is uncomfortable. I want to cleanse my colon but don't know what to buy. Patty from Canada

I could use some input on my symptoms.  During my period I got real bad cramps and then very bloated.  I could hardly sit from the bloating. I was like that until my cycle ended and still did not completely go away.  About a week after cycle ended I got sick 2 hours after eating lunch.  Real bad abdominal pain and cramps along with diarrhea and vomiting and pain in the upper right back. My husband made me go to the ER and they did a abdominal CT scan when they said looked good except for imflammation of the colon(intestines). Sent me home with Cipro antibiotic tried taking it x 2 days but had real bad muscle aches so Dr told me to stop taking it.  I'm still having some problems with being real gassy, lower right side tenderness when laying down, stomach pain(like someone is squeezing my waist)and sharp pain all around my abdominal area and some lowe back cramping.  I haven't gone to see my GI dr because I had a upper and lower GI two years ago and everything looked good.  I have been feeling good up util I had my period/stomach virus or ?  Can anyone share any words of wisdom.  I'm suppose to be going to London in March, but if I continue to feel like this I will not feel comfortable leaving the country.  Help.

I have had gasto. problems for years.  Recently I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis.  This is another term for slow stomach emtying.  A normal person's stomach contracts about 3 times per minute thus emtying out in about 1 1/2 hours or less.  Because my stomach does not contract normally it takes longer to empty. My symptoms are bloating, constipation, feeling full fast, stomach pain and acid reflux.  A simple test will diagnose this problem.  If you have this you DO NOT eat fiber which is the total opposite of someone with IBS.  Most people are told to increase their intake of fiber if they are constipated but in this case it is the total opposite.  Eat small meals over the course of the day also.
