Blood in Urine

Hi, I'm 24 yr old female. Mother of one 2 yr old.
I recently lost my medical insurance so I'm just looking for some other opinions...
Yesterday morning I woke up really needing to pee (alot), After I wiped, I saw pink on the tp.
I thought period starting but that about 2 weeks away. I went and told my hubby that I peed blood.
A few minutes later I felt like I had to go again so this time I took a white cup (my toilet is dark maroon)
to catch a sample. Sure enough it was red, more toward the end of my urination just kinda dripped blood.
It did kind of burn at the end of urination both times, but after that everything returned to normal...
I was hospitalized several months ago for a severe kidney infection and doctor thinks I might have Lupus.
I have Mitral Valve Prolapse and controlled arythimias. Other than that I'm supposedly in good health.
Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks! God Bless.

Bilirubin in the urine 3+ is substantual!  It SHOULD NOT be ignored.  It means you possible have an obstruction in the biliary system.  Maybe galbladder or liver problems.  It should certainly be investigated!  Even trace amounts of bilirubin should never be found in the urine.

Let me know how you turn out.

Well I started bleeding again today. Alot worse than before so I went to the hospital.
UA showed: Glu Trace, Bil 3+, Ket 2+, SG 1.020, Blo 3+, ph 8.5, Pro 3+, Uro 4.0,
Nit Positive, and Leu 3+. He said there is infection but he sent Urine for culture I guess.
Put me on Cipro for now, I go back in 3 days.. So if Im reading the results right, my kidney are the cause, but why Bilirubin in the urine, wouldnt that mean my liver is acting up also?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If blood is mainly at the end of the stream, it is usually from the urinary bladder. Blood in urine at the beginning is from urethra, and mid stream blood is generally from kidney, bladder and ureter.
Gross hematuria visible to naked eye is seen in kidney and bladder stones, cancer of kidney, bladder endometriosis, low platelet count, bladder injury and bladder infections. Apart from urine examination, you would need some other blood tests and imaging tests and maybe cystoscopy.
I know you lost your insurance, but with a past history of kidney infection needing hospitalization, this cannot be ignored. Try and get what medical help you can, a urine examination, and maybe a course of antibiotic. Hope this helps. Take care!
