COLONOSCOPY

I am a 53 yrs. old male who had a colonoscopy 3yrs. ago. My GI doctor found 3 non-cancerous poylops, which they removed and he said, I had Spastic colon. I just received a letter from my GI doctor saying it was time for a follow-up colonoscopy. I thought it was 5yrs. for a follow-up colonoscopy ? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Yes, ideally colonoscopy is done every 5 years if no abnormality is detected. However if some problem is detected then it can be scheduled earlier depending on the problem.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
