After first experiencing symptoms I headed over to an Urgent Care clinic. They checked me out and did some blood work. After getting the results back, I found out I didn't have any kind of a sinus infection and tested normal for everything else (kidney, liver function, etc...). Now thinking it's not sinus related, I start taking Zyrtec for allergies. I took one pill and was okay, yet, it made me drowsy. So, I began taking Claritin - non drowsy. That same night, I began to experience a horrible leg cramp and the following morning (plus today) had a tingling sensation in my hands/feet. The only thing I changed in my lifestyle was taking the Claritin so I'm sure it's all related (online it states that Claritin can cause leg cramps...).
My main concern is the head pressure (which comes and goes), red eyes and MOSTLY vision issues which is creating problems for me in focusing. Any clue what this could be? I'm scheduled to see an ENT/Neurologist. Does this sound like allergies/sinus related (sinus pressure)? Could allergy/sinus issues cause problems with vision, or focusing? I haven't felt like myself in almost 2 weeks!!! I need recommendations on what to do next!!!
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
First of all consult an eye specialist to rule out eye causes like conjunctivitis, lid infection, infection in lacrymal gland etc---basically a local eye problem that can also cause headache.
The second thing is to monitor your blood pressure.
There is a strong possibility that you have ocular migraines’ or ‘ophthalmic migraines’. These produce headaches along with visual symptoms ranging from static vision to temporary loss of vision. Please discuss this possibility with your doctor. Normally, ophthalmic migraines do not require treatment. But if these symptoms recur regularly then you may need medication to reduce the frequency and/or severity of attacks.
Leg cramps are generally due to low sodium. Try to increase salt and water in your diet and see. Otherwise get blood electrolytes done.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Thanks for the feedback. Do you think it could be sinus/allergy related? Also,...about an hour ago,...I started experiencing a brief, unpleasant feeling on my right side - near my rib cage. Do you have any clue what could be causing this to happen?
Hi
Thanks for keeping me posted!
Well, it could be some kind of allergy. I cannot comment for sure without examination. However there is a possibility as you responded to anti allergic medication.
The other possibility is nerve compression in upper cervical vertebrae causing chest discomfort too. It could also be starting symptom of Herpes zoster. Gastric reflux or GERD is another possibility.
Please discuss this with your doctor. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
