Cause of purple, reddish dots on ear lobe?

For about a year I have had a recurring rash on my ear lobe, mainly my right ear lobe, it turns purplish, like a bruise. It has red and purple dots on it. What causes this? It's not painful and does not itch. It lasts about a week, then disappears and comes back.

Look up Petichiae, and Telangiectasia. These sound like what you describe, but can have many causes. Try this website. It has pictures.
