Change in Lip Position

by temps_73, Nov 03, 2009 12:02PM
Hi,
My problem involves my lips. I have always had full lips but 4 years ago I began drinking Green Tea which for some reason shrunk my lips down a bit and made them go inwards a bit. My lower lip moved under my upper lip in a way that I never experienced before and the feeling in my lips felt somewhat numb, basically like my lips were not in their right position. This was very uncomftorable but due to my strong liking of Green Tea I kept drinking it because I always thought that if I just stopped drinking it, the lips would go back to normal. So I stopped about 2 months back and although I did notice some increase in size in the area just above my upper lip (where the mustache grows) the lips themselves still did not return to their orignal position and I still have the same kind of numbness in them. To give a better idea of the situation, it's kind of like if you imagine a woman putting on lipstick and then doing a sort of movement where she rubbs her upper and lower lip together so that the lips are in an inward position, that's as good as a comparison I can think of, simply some sort of change in lip position. If anyone has any idea or any suggestion or comment I would be extremely grateful as I have tried to get advice all over the internet.
Thank you

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
The lips in your case seem to have tightened. What is important is find the cause of numbness. In all probability there was some chemical allergy to the contents of green tea. Disorders of parathyroid gland and low calcium can cause tightening and numbness of lips. Get an allergy test, blood levels of calcium and parathyroid gland function tested. Consult your PCP to start with.
Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
