hello, i have similar issues with my left side. it sounds like the pain may lead to your dizziness or anxiety. but i to have sharp pain in my chest that radiates from upper midline sternum to my back under my shoulder blade. when i drink wine it seems to get imflamed. i have not taken any benadryl for it.  the pain comes and goes. my left arm goes num at night or just aches to my wrist. my doctor says its just skeletal and muscle issues. well when i stretch it helps relieve the pain but will come back when i sleep. i talked to a pt, and he told me about thoracic outlet syndrome. check it out.

ottohill -

I have these same symptoms.  I have had them for about 10 years and they come and go.  When I am having them, I have intense pain in my left side and in my left shoulder/clavicle area.  The pain is very sharp and increases when I inhale.  The strange thing is this:  it only happens when I eat or drink.  It is almost as if when my stomach is full, it presses on something internally.  I have been to several doctors about it, but they have dismissed it as nothing serious.  (acid reflux, stress...)  Right now it is manageable, but there are times when I am really hurting.  It does not matter what I eat or drink - just the fact that my stomach is not empty causes pain. (even a few sips of water can start the pain)

After doing a little research on thoracic outlet syndrome, I do not think this is it.  The symptoms do not match what is happening to me.  One doctor looked for an ulcer, but was unable to find one.

Have you been diagnosed with anything?  I would be very interested to know what has happened.

More research -- the only thing I have come across that this might be is pleurisy.  Here is a list of symptoms:

May always be present, but it usually gets worse when you breathe in. You may avoid breathing deeply to prevent the pain.
Usually is on only one side of the chest.
May extend to a shoulder or the belly.
Is usually worse when you cough, sneeze, or suddenly move.
May ease when you hold your breath or press on the painful area.

This pretty much hits the nail on the head for me, but what is the connection with eating??  And - I have more severe shoulder and left side abdominal pain.  Why has mine come and gone for years.  I probably have a "flare up" (so to speak) about once every 6 to 8 weeks.

Also ask about Hiatus Hernia.  So very painful and intermittent.  Nothing they can do about it either, just have to live with it mostly.  They can operate in bad cases so that the stomach dosen't lift into the chest area.  This is caused by weak diaphram apparently.

I've recently been experiencing similar symptoms: tightness/pressure on left side of chest, tingling/numbness and/or mild sharp pains in left arm, muscle twitching in left side of neck, and very minor numbness on left side of face.  It seems to be spreading almost daily, at first it was only the chest.  I can feel the legs coming next.  Does it seem like the same thing as everyone else?  Initially I thought it might signs of heart attack or stroke, but it seems to be way too gradual.
