She is complaining of full body pain in joints and muscles as well as her head and back. She is 6 y/o Rheumatology tests came back normal. Her Lymphocytes came back elevated she has been running fevers from 100.3 - 102.5 on and off. She also complains of stomach pain as well. Doctors have confirmed her pain is real but are puzzled as to what is causing it. We are waiting to hear when our appointment with hematology/oncology is. Anyone seen this before or has some ideas please feel free to mention. We just want our little girl back to herself going to school, karate and playing with her friends.
This sounds like some kind of bacterial or viral infection. She is so ill with fever because her body is fighting something, that is why the lymphocytes are elevated.
Make sure to keep your daughter warm and comfortable. Give her plenty of drinks, so she does not become dehydrated (that can, plus the fever will cause the headaches). She will probably be off her food, but make sure she gets the fluids down. Give her pain relief to help bring down the fever and lessen the joint pains. I hope the doctor has prescribed something to help relieve her pain. You can also sponge her down with a damp cloth to help get the fever down.
When my daugher had similar symptoms and was kept in hospital under observation, it was found that she had a bacterial infection. But when I went with her and saw her bowel movements which were very loose, there was a pan full of quite fat thread worms. She had been complaining of feeling very ill for months before this.
Obviously the doctors are checking out the reason why the lymphocytes came back elevated and this is the reason why she has has an appointment with hematology/oncology. It sounds like her body is either fighting some infection (bacteria) or attacking itself. Once they find out what is causing this, then she will be given the correct treatment.
If that comes back all negative, then get her checked out for any parasitic infestation just to rule out that.
