Chronic Chest Pains

by jdh2003, Nov 05, 2008 09:57AM
I was wondering if anyone has every had chronic chest pain?  I have had pain in my chest/breast area on and off for 5 years (mostly on) .  It feels like a burning, shooting, pressure pain.  Sometimes is sharp and it feels like I am going to die.  Other times I can feel the pain by pushing on it. I have shortness in breath too.

The doctors have said that it is chest wall inflammation.  I do have a fast heart rate that I take medicine for.  But chest wall inflammation for 5 years!!!!!!!!!

I have been on may different things for this: steroids, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medicines, i have had the normal heart type tests, the doctors have even thrown anti-depressants at me.  I am just scared, confused, and upset that I have had to deal with this for so long.

Has anyone ever dealt with this? And is there something the doctors are missing?  Please help!

Hello,

Causes of chronic chest pain are many. It can be due to hypertension,Gastroesophageal reflux disease(do you have heart burn and difficulty in  swallowing), disorders involving the lung like Pneumonia, pulmonary embolism or pneumothorax, cardiac diseases, lung cancer, thoracic outlet syndrome, pancreatitis, gall bladder disease, costochondritis and muscle pain.

Does your chest ache along the edges of your breastbone, and does your pain get worse when you cough or take a deep breath? It can be COSTOCHONDRITIS, an inflammation of the joints in your chest. If you have fullness and pain in the upper right side of your abdomen after eating a greasy or fatty meal ,then it maybe a GALLBLADDER problem. It is very common in fertile females. It can radiate to chest and cause chest pain.

Pls discuss these possibilities with your physician and see if it helps.

Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
