Chronic Diarrhea since June 1st

I have had chronic diarrhea since June 1st.  I have seen 2 G.I. docs and 1 Infectous disease doc and they have not resolved anything.  I have had two negative colonoscopies, with biopsies, and a negative EDG.  I have had numerous blood tests and stool tests that were negative.  I have taken Cipro, Flagyl, Levaquin, and two other antibiotics that did nothing.  Lomotil, pepto and immodium have no effect in controlling the diahhrea.  The G.I. doc said they could not find anything yet gave me Asacol which made the diahhrea worse.  The infectious disease specialist seemed only interested in HIV which I tested negative for.  He check for Isospora, cyclospora, microspora, microspoidia and CMV which all were negative.  I'm back at my PCP again and he has treated me for IBS giving me hyoscayamine which has had no effect.  I am waiting for another GI consult and am very frustrated again.  The only way I am able to work is by not eating during the day and contolling the diarrhea with narcotics, which is not always effective.  Any suggestions???

Had you looked into Celiac Disease?

I have this and it is extremely hard to diagnose. Since this seems to be a sudden onset of diarreha it may not be.

Good luck.

I also had diarrhea for a loooong time about a year ago. It was an URGENT diarrhea. While talking to a friend she mentioned to me that her son had diarrhea for a long time and his doctor told him to eat Yogurt 4 times a day for a month. I tried it and it worked wonders.
It seems that antibiotics can destroy the good 'flora' in the bowel, and we need to replace it. Eating Yogurt does the trick. Couldn't believe something so simple could do the job.
Can't hurt, sounds like you have tried everything else.
Good luck

I have also tried to exclude different foods and tried the BRAT diet but there was no change.  What makes me think it may be infectious was that I just had a cold and I had a severe onset of diarrhea and cramps.  Yet my doc does not think its infectious.
