Chronic dizziness after having a baby?

I gave birth naturally to my son 12 months ago with no complications. However I was unable to stand or walk for 48 hours after giving birth due to severe dizziness. Since then I have suffered dizziness every day - some days worse than others. I don't feel sick or suffer terribly from headaches but the dizziness scares me and I'm worried it hasnt subsided 12 months later. Some days I just have to lie down, although this can be worse as the room completely spins!
My GP says I am fine and is more anxiety related. I suffered severe post natal depression after having my baby which was controlled very effectively 3 months later with cipramil. I am now off the anti depressants. Often if I take a stemitil or xanax the symptoms subside somewhat, which maybe indictaes it is anxiety related?
My GP will not continue with further tests but I am so concerend there is something wrong from giving birth to my son.
We desperatley want to try for a second child but I am so concerned somthing will go wrong giving birth naturally again and my dizziness will get worse. If I have no other symptoms can I be assured maybe this is just benign vertigo? or is my gut feeling right that something happened during the birth of my son to give me this dizziness? I am at a loss and feel I should investiagte further. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

I also should have mentioned that food sensitivities--if not outright allergies-- can exacerbate hypoglycemia. The worst offenders are wheat, dairy, corn, soy, sugar, eggs, and tomatoes. Also problematic are citrus fruits, shellfish, and some tree nuts. Thyroid problems (hypo or hyper--I'm hypo) can also make hypoglycemia worse.

I also started getting dizzy spells at the end of the third trimester and especially after giving birth. I also experienced (and still do) a ton of anxiety. Through research, however, I've come to realize that hypoglycemia (reactive--meaning after eating) causes the dizziness AND the anxiety. Your could have a GTT--glucose tolerance test-- or even a GITT (glucose intolerance test) for 3-6 hours, but the numbers on these tests are not definitive. Instead of going by numbers, cut out all sugar, caffeine, refined products (cereals, pasta, bread, cake), and only eat protein and veggies several times a day (every 2-3 hours) for a week, and see how you feel. This doesn't cure me (my carb intolerance is awful), but it DOES help. Good luck and God bless.

I had my baby in July and since the 3rd day after her birth I have been dizzy every day.  I thought it was anxiety too so I had my dr give me Ativan to help take  the edge off.  I used to have anxiety attacks about 3 years ago so I thought it was coming back.  All the ativan did was make me not panic when I got dizzy.

My dr order bloodwork and sent me to an ENT to check my ears.  I have my appointment in 3 weeks to have a 2 hour test with an audiologist to see if it's inner ear.  I am terrified that they won't know whats wrong.  I am so sick of feeling dizzy.  I feel as though I am walking sideways, and like you, no other symptoms.  I do notice that I stay home more now because of it.

Did you ever find anything out?
