Chronic pain help

A year and a half ago, I was in a pretty bad car accident.  My car barrell rolled at 45mph about 3-4 times. I was not wearing a seat belt and was able to get out of the car and brought to the hospital for a couple stitches in my hands from the glass.

About three months after the accident, I began to expierence muscle problems.  The muscles in my legs and back began to hurt terribly.  I was no longer able to do yoga or really any type of activity for a long period of time.  If I over did myself, I would spend the next day in my bed with swollen thigh muscles and weak legs.

I have gone through a few doctors who van not diagnose me.  My blood work is normal, I had an EMG done and I was told the I was in a grey area but they thought it was normal (the EMG was only done to the one side of my body).  I had X-rays taken of my back and legs and only muscle spasms were shown.  Finally three months ago I had and MRI done which showed two protruding disks in my neck and two old fractures of my vertabre (this was more than likely from my car accident ugh).

The only diagnosis I am getting is fibromyalgia, which I refuse to accept.  This past weekend I bent over and went to stand back up and had a sharp pain in my back, then my neck began to tingle and my right foot went numb.  I wasn't able to move around for about two days until I went to the hospital. The hospital said it was a pinched nerve.  I was wondering if the symptoms I have been expierenceing for the past year or so could be from a pink he'd nerve.

My symptoms include constant  muscles aches, pains and swelling in my back and legs, tingling in my neck and foot (not alway present, I get more headaches than normal now, weakness in my legs. I have tried light excersie, swimming, nerve pills, steroids, anti inflammatories but nothing takes the pain away.    Please help, the doctors in my area suck and I just want my life back.  I am only 26 years old and I feel like I am 76 :(.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Unexplained aches and pains coming on and off could be due to fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Crohn’s disease, H pylori infection, anemia, liver disorders, diabetes, hypothyroidism, Vit B12 or Vit D deficiency and due to calcium or magnesium deficiency. It can also be due to sleep related disorders. In women it can be due to hormonal disturbances related to PCOD/menopause.
The various reasons for myalgia or muscle ache are Dengue, viral flu, lupus, Lyme’s, malaria, polio, electrolyte disturbance especially low potassium (so serum electrolytes should be done), dehydration, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, inflammation of muscles or myositis (hence CPK-MB should be done), high eosinophil counts, use of certain drugs like statins, and post viral fatigue syndrome.
Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
