Cold knees

Is there any explanation for my permanently cold knees?  I am a 56 year old female who has been suffering with this predicament for months now.  I have been tested for thyroid and diabetes which have been ruled out, and in desperation have tried acupuncture which gave no relief.  The wearing of extra clothing, electric blankets, hot water bottles, rheumatic cuffs, hot baths or showers do not bring relief either.  This situation may seem laughable but it has become quite debilitating and I am absolutely desperate for a solution.  I await a consultation with a neurologist but that is still a couple of months away.  In the meantime I seek any advice or help that may be offered.

It is a relief to know there are other people out there with icy knees. I feel everyone thinks I am making a fuss. I first suffered when camping...the dew coming up at 5am seemed to trigger off a pain that ripped through my knees for hours and hours and brought me to tears, although the rest of me felt quite cosy. I now get it know and again, sometimes quite severe in bed at night. Gentle exercise especially swimming and pilates type seems to help a lot. I have been wondering about trying shock absorbing shoes? Has anyone tried this?

Cold Knees.
I am 53 and have had cold knees since my 20's. Thought way back then, it was because I had knelt so often (Catholic) background. Joked about it to family and friends.... but  no Dr has had an answer for me or really cared. Last night I awoke so often that today I am tired. I am unfit ATM but have been fit and extremely fit at times and this has made no difference to the cold knees. This morning they are still cold and kind of hurt to touch. I would like an answer. I have tried heat-packs for sleeping and covering the knees, but the problem is still there.

I am a 25 year old male. I suffered from accident when I was 14 that took my right leg. Now I wasn't having any knee issues until maybe 3 years ago. My left knee kept dislocating it self, feeling stiff, sometimes hot but more time cold, always feeling weak like at any moment it will pop out again. But it wasn't until a few months ago that it kept feeling weaker and colder. Upon a appointment for disability I had no idea what it was, I've never heard of such things. I was told that it's due to a condition called Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD). From what info I was able to gather on thus subject it due to intense use on the joint and is very common in elderly. Now this may not be the case for all of you, but I would read up on  Degenerative Joint Disease just to cover your basses case a lot of what your feeling fits into DJD. As I said it may not be the case for a lot of you, it wasn't even the case for me it was brought up and a possibility. I still don't know what's wrong. I hope this helps in some way.

I had no idea that there was a community of those challenged with cold knee.  I noticed the posting trend of female gender dominance, yet there were maybe two men.  My theory is that is is a menopausal symptom.  It started only after menopause commenced years ago, and went away when I was on HRT.  It returned when I discontinued HRT.  Since some sufferers posting here are young women, maybe I should just call it a hormonal imbalance problem.

This situation used to also react favorably to Condroitin, Glucosamine and MSM.  It doesn't now, at age 52.  I do believe that my past intake of flaxseed gave me relief, so I am just now returning to daily consumption.  My knees have predicted impending rain, but now, the discomfort is constant enough that there's already discomfort.
