Cold sore updated post..... Pleas help!!

**** Oops sorry. Don't know how all that other stuff got in my first post. ****

Sunday night I got hit with a nasty cold sore. Hooray!! Anyway, it seemed to be ok, in comparison to the usual, but then this morning, Tuesday, I woke up with eye pain and a headache on the same side as my cold sore. This is the first time I've ever experienced this. Has anyone experienced this before? Does it have anything to do with one another? It is also more swolen today then before.

Does anyone know what makes one's cold sore bigger than anothers? I get lucky. I get the really bit nasty kinds, which turns red and swells up in pain. :(
Thanks!

Hi!
Thank you for the reply!
So unfortunately it got worse. I went to the doctor today and he thinks it may be Impetigo or Shingles. He said it is way too big for it to be a Cold Sore. Now I'm on severe watch and have to go back every 48 hours. I looked up some pictures and symptoms... and in all honesty all 3 look the same. Doc gave me Acyclovir and 2 different ointments to treat it.
Does anyone know how long I'm gonna look so hideous? :(
Thanks!

Hi

Thanks for the post! How are your cold sores now?

These are usually caused by a virus which is not really removed from the body’s defence mechanism. Hence these recur. The virus is spread from person to person by kissing or from contact with normal skin especially when the sore is shedding the virus. At times the nerves are irritated on the same side as the sore and cause eye pain and headache.

Over the counter creams and lotions to apply on the sores, eating bland diet, taking more of fruits and vegetables, good oral hygiene and washing hands often helps. Touching the sore again and again causes irritation and sore become more inflamed and enlarged.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
