Constantly aware of my heart beating

I am constantly aware of my heart beat.  My entire life I remember being able to feel my heart beating.  My husband says he can't feel his without touching his throat or wrist.

Anyhow, I am having tests done finally.

When I am doing physical work, walking up steep hills or after eating certain foods, I feel my heart beat in a wierd pattern.  Almost like it pauses and then beats harder...not faster.

My blood pressure is slightly elevated, cholesterol is slightly elevated but generally in good health.

I remember this heart feeling throughout the years off and on but after having surgery for thyroid cancer I am feeling it more now.

Any ideas as to what this could be?

So far, I have wore the heart monitor for 24 hours and of course my heart behaved nicely and I had an ultra sound and again, it behaved nicely.  Tomorrow I will have a treadmill test.

Thank you

I have it too, I was wondering if it was pulses that are inside of my body.  But I too suffer from heart palps and just posted a response to someone else going thru same thing.  My palps seem to come on while doing normal things around the house but they do not seem to bother me while exercising. Had Dialted Cardiomyopathy earlier this year but heart got better.  I still wonder if there is something else going on with me.  What has the Dr's said?

Sorry I can't tell you anything about what is causing your problem, but I can tell you that you are not supposed to feel your heart beat unless you have been out jogging or doing some hard labour.

Glad you are getting it taken care of! Good luck with the tests!
