I am 21, male, normal weight, blood pressure avg 125/75 without meds, and with meds 115/65.
I developed a problem about this time last year which was shrugged off as anxiety becuase of my age, however all the tests were done and nothing showed up. My main symptom was a very forceful pulse/heartbeat which i could feel constantly. Had all blood tests Full blood, thyroid, sugar, cholest, and even urine test. All within normal limits. Also got referred to a cardiologist, who did an Echo, stress echo and holter, all normal again. This took all up about 3 months of time.
Anyway I was getting fed up with living like this so i arranged an appointment with my old physician (the one who diagnosed my 'heavy heart beat' as anxiety) to try and stress my concern and was completely and utterly disgusted with the way i was treated. He basically treated me as a little insignificant child talking to me the way he did. Telling me that 'I have created all of this' and the chest pressure isnt real and i can push past it if i really want to' Despite me telling him that i physically can't with the amount of chest discomfort and shortness of breath. When i also mentioned that there has been plenty of middle aged me who have gone for stress testing and have passed it thinking they are okay, and actually collapse of a massive heart attack within the next day, he just shut his mouth and continued the 'its all in your head' bit.
So my question is, what the hell should i do now? what would you do in my position seriously? I have been continually thrown to the bottom of the pit with the medical community in Australia and seem to be getting nowhere with this only worse. Right now i am only taking 20mg propranolol to control some of the discomfort of pressure during stairs and to slow my heart down to the 60's (usually in 80-90 without meds) Can i physically pay for a test like Angiogram to get this sorted? Should i complain to my cardio again, or should i chase another doctor? Either way i cant take much more of this. If i keep ketting nowhere with these doctors, im afraid the only thing i can do is wait for a heart attack and hope that the ambulance team can help me. Seriously, what other option is there? My Blood's clean, lungs are good and the physical structure of my heart is good - All things that may cause chest discomfort. Only thing it could be is an artery somewhere. And believe me, it's not gas.
