Cough Issues Getting More Frequent

My question is this:  How could I possibly get a chest cold three times in two months when I haven't been around anyone that's sick?

Commonality: Each occurance has resulted after being outside and slightly sweaty.  I know, no one believes me, but I can start a chest cold for myself any day of the week--on cue!

Rule of thumb: If I do any kind of exercise inside or outside to the point of sweating, I had better take a shower and be dry (not sweaty) before I cool off or go outside again.  Or, I'll probably be sick that night with what doctors have labeled just a chest cold.

Severity: The cough goes deep, way deep.  Usually in the left lung and takes 2-3 weeks to get rid of.  I cough several times during that period to the point of vomiting.  No blood.  Clear thin mucus.

Current drugs in the cabinet: Guaifenesin which saves me from getting worse and speeds recovery, hydrocodone for night, Albuterol for whenever it's needed most.

More background: Apparently, my mother says I coughed for the first 3 years of my life and took shots for allergies until age 10.  When I get a cold, it always goes right to my lungs.

Last occurance the doc gave me a chest ct and everything was clear as a bell.  No other cold symptoms typically, just the cough.

Any suggested treatments?  Any preventative measures other than "never exercise again and go outside with a wet head?"

Thanks in advance.

have you gone gack to an allergist for testing?  you may need to return for additional allergy shots.  i've known other adults who went through allergy shots who had to do them over again.  good luck :)

Seems like doctors (I never see the same one twice) don't want to refer me to an allergist.  They just get so many people coming in with colds that they figure my condition is too.  But, you're not the first to suggest that, so I'll keep pushing.  Thanks.
