Could be only stress?

Hi, I had unprotected sex six months ago. Next day after that, I got really worried about HIV. Two weeks after that, I began to experience symptoms. First, enlarged lymph nodes under my jaw. Two weeks more, and began to feel pain in my legs (later my Dr said they were neuropathies). A month later, enlarged lymph node in the left side of my neck under my ear. Some weeks later, night sweats (for a week or so), and then an herpes-like infection on one side of my tongue (painful for a few days). Then some rash (a single itchy dot in one arm lasting for two days). Then shaking hands and legs (I couldn't write on a PC!). I couldn't sleep (almost) for months! Nor work or live. I was terrified, in extreme state of anxiety (crying almost every day). I'm married and have two kids. I was terrified of having destroyed my family.  But all my HIV test have come negative so far! Including a 4th generation test at three months, a quantitative PCR test at four months, and the last one a 3rd generation ELISA at six months and an antibody test for HCV also at six months. I steel have some strange symptoms like numb feeling in two fingers of my left hand, some inflammation under my tongue and some painful scares in the roof of my mouth, some strange sensations in my legs (I also had one day diarrhea and now I have some flue). I'm taking psychiatric medicine to cope with my anxiety (I'm better now), and I can sleep now and have a more or less normal life. But I'm still wondering what could had happened to my body!?!?!?!?!?!?!?? I had a general blood test, and the only abnormal thing the Dr found was an elevated reactive protein C (normal level is less than 0.8 g/ml and I had 6 g/ml), but every thing else was normal. I do not know if I have to still worry for HIV or what?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Jose

For the others on this thread and myself . What do you think of T-cell subsets and cbc  as a final diagnostic tool when all tests are negative but patient is still highly symptomatic ?
My personal thread is "Believe Symptoms or Tests " both in the Hiv  prevention community forum and in the Hiv expert forum .
Seeing a Hiv specialist on Monday 12/20/10  and he's not yet ready to dismiss Hiv until he see results of the above mentioned blood tests .
P.S.:To save you the bother of reading my long threads mentioned I am post 6 months with last Elisa 1/2 on 24wk 4thd , Pcr Dna at wk29 4thd, and a rapid blood UniGold on 34wk.
A total of 21 tests from 5th week forward , including  2 RNAs, another DNA, and a total of 5 Elisas , with the rest being rapid blood tests. Still, here on 34wk+ presenting with painfull neck/collar nodes and burning/aching groin nodes.

Hi thanks a lot for your answers. It has been very hard for me because I have symptoms, however, I go to the Dr and they tell me I have nothing (I would like to have some diagnosis). Yes, some Crohn's disease or something like that could be. The other day I had diarreha (just one day and I didn't feel seek). Maybe I have some infection I don't know. I have has so many stress for months that it is not surprising that my health is not ok.
Thanks a lot to everybody!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
A high C-reactive protein indicates some inflammation, infection or arthritis like problem. On the HIV front you should rest assured that you do not have HIV as at 6 months you test negative for it. However the C-reactive protein should be looked into. Consult a rheumatologist and if you have recurrent loose bowels, then Crohn’s disease and other inflammatory bowel diseases should be looked into. Since you had an itchy dot, Lyme’s disease too should be looked into. I am really sorry but beyond this at this point I cannot think of anything else. Do discuss this with your doctor and see what he thinks. Take care!

Well I'd still get tested every 4 months or so just to be on the safe side.

i have had 16 negative HIV tests (Thank God) all same symptoms and my last elisa test was this week - three differen t test centres. thats me tested to 10 months + now and at every interval of 3 weeks since week five.  Still am worried as have every symptom. what to do?
maybe stop reading and feeding my mind with what i would have if i was infected. I worry continually but pray that i can get on with my life and be and accept negative HIV. My symptoms are easing - but still hard to put the earlier highly indiative symptoms to rest.

maybe time will heal DV
