Cyst found on my bf head.

by JR0, Apr 30, 2007 12:00AM
I recently found a large lump on the back of my bf's head. It is about a quarter size and he said that a doctor told him it was a cyst and nothing to worry about. I began to ask him some basic questions but it seemed he didn’t know much of his condition. I may be paranoid but I rather be safe then sorry, basically I just want to know more information on cyst found on peoples head such as its cause, harmful effects, long life projection of living with one, should it be removed, what should I look out for, any medication or treatment? I also noticed he has allot of what looks like white head green-yellow head pimples also on his skull,  does one thing have anything to do with the other? Is there anything I should be worried about?  Is this common? Hereditary?

I have had a cyst on the back of my head.  It leaks out blood and a clear kinda white liquid.  I have been to the doctors they said they would have to cut it out, i am looking for a natural way to get rid of these I had the for about 3 years.  They will fill up and drain in a matter of 24 hours

I was told by a plastic surgeon and dermatologist that the only way to get rid of a cyst like that is to cut it out. You can try draining it but it will keep coming back. You actually have to cut out the little sack and everything.
The thing is, it will continue to grow so you really should get it taken care of before it gets any bigger.
My daughter has had a fluid filled cyst behind her ear for years. We were told not to worry about it too and that when she was ready she could get it taken out. Well, that was her pediatrician who told her that. It has since grown quite a bit and it much larger and starting to cause some discomfort for her and she's 17 mpw and wants it out, so we are going to have it taken out.
It's actually not that big of a deal. We got a referral to a facial plastic surgeon and he told us he could do it right there in his office with just a local anesthetic. She doesn't have to be put completely under. He also said he won't have to shave her hair and that he will try to hide the scar as best as he can as far back as he can.

My recommendation to both of you is to get it removed. Otherwise, you will keep dealing with this and it will only continue to get bigger.
We are getting our daughter's done in two weeks. I can come back and let you know how it goes, if you like.

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
A cyst will have to be surgically removes along with the lining as this lining or capsule if left behind will keep on secreting and result in recurrence.
There are no natural ways to remove it and none are successful. Please follow the advice of your doctor and this is a simple surgical process, so do not worry.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
