Does anyone ever really recover and heal from having both Double Pneumonia and Sepeis at the same time?

I was hospitalized about 31/2 to 4 years ago with double pneumonia and sepeis.  I was also diagnosed with chronic heart failure. hospital stay was for 20 days.  I was unconscious most of the time, hooked up to all the alarms and tubes one could possibly imagine.  Upon release from the hospital I was told that it could be 2-3 years to recover from this killer illness.  So far it has been almost 4 years now and I still do not feel 100%.  I've been readmitted about 7 mos ago with severe lover leg swelling below the knees, calf area on both legs.  The right leg has healed but the left leg still requires attention.  I still feel fatigue and I run out of breath easily.  My Dr. feels that I am not sincere about the way I feel currently.  I should know how I feel because I am the one who is experiencing these symptoms.  I take 9-10 pills a day as I have been doing since my initial hospitalization 4 years ago.  Please advise and thank you for this forum to inquire about these illnesses.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
You had a lot to contend with. There is a possibility that your heart, kidney, liver and pancreas are not functioning 100% and hence tests to determine their functional capacity should be done like glomerular filtration rate, blood urea and serum creatinine, liver function tests, pancreatic amylase and lipase, blood sugar fasting and after food etc. Thyroid function, hemoglobin, peripheral blood smear, serum iron level etc should also be assessed. Another possibility is sleep disturbances (like sleep apnea, imbalance of rapid eye and non rapid eye movement sleep etc.). You may sleep your customary 7-8 hours and yet feel fatigued. You need sleep studies to rule this out. Other possibilities are chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, low Vit b12, low iron, low calcium, sodium and potassium.
Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Hope this helps. Take care!
