Drug test

Why did a medication that I have never taken show up on a drug test my pain doctor randomly gives?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Sometimes drug tests are false positive. Other times, the metabolite of another drug may mimic the drug which has been tested positive and this could have happened in your case too. It could also be that you unknowingly took a drug-say a pain killer that had this drug as one of the end products of metabolism.
Please discuss this with your doctor. Take care!

Sometimes drug tests can give a false positive, also if you have taken another drug that may contain the drug that could trip the drug tests trigger.
