Dry, peeling lips..wat do I do??

this is so random but since I was in the 7th grade I've had horrrrible problems with my lips.
Doctor's can never diagnose it because they say I probably just lick my lips too much or something but that's not it. It's not that they get dry but the skin just becomes hard and loose and i have to peel at it. It happens every single day either in the morning or in the middle of the day after I have lip gloss on. Some may say its from too much moisture in the lip gloss but like I just said, It happens in the morning too. is there any lip stuff to help this or am I just born with it?? more water maybe? Tried that though. any suggestions?

I had a similar problem in high school til a friend recommended that I use vaseline on my lips when I go to sleep at night and it works.  I have been doing this for the last 12 years. It works!!

This might be due to a deficiency in B vitamins, which can also cause cracking in the corners of the lips.
I do have a "secret lip balm" to tell you about.  I found that if I put a small drop of Oil of Olay lotion on my lips, my lips are smooth enough to apply lipstick.

"Riboflavin deficiency characteristically causes cheilosis (cracking of the lips and corners of the mouth)..."
http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/v/vitamin_b12_deficiency/symptoms.htm

"A deficiency of vitamin B2 (riboflavin) may result in bloodshot eyes, abnormal sensitivity to light, itching and burning of the eyes, inflammation in the mouth, a sore and burning tongue, and cracks on the lips and in the corners of the mouth."

Get a good B complex vitamin supplement, and take it daily.
You may have intestinal absorption issues that prevent your body from getting enough B vitamins from foods.

Wishing you the best,
Carol

yes ive been to a skin doctor and all he gave me was a thicker lipbalm and..the thicker..the more peeling..so see? NOTHING WORKS. and if i go without lipgloss OR chapstick..they get hard and bleed..so i have to have something on them to keep them looking and feeling tolerable. and blistex and other lip balms still only work temporarily until they dry..then my lips get worse again. I need a secret lip balm or a secret folk tale thing to do to keep them moist and stop them from drying up and getting peely and hard.

I've had this as well.  What's always worked for me is drinking more water.  Peeling lips can be an early sign of dehydration.

Have you ever been to a dermatologist for this problem?  It sounds like some kind of skin condition.  Maybe an allergy also.  Try using a different lip gloss, or no lip gloss at all.  Get some lip balm, like a ChapStick or Blistex and see if that helps.

You can also try just vaseline.  It will look like lip gloss but protect your lips.
