Dry Mouth, Muscle Twitching, Feeling Cold, Tight Throat

by bdchick, Aug 26, 2009 01:11PM
Hi,
I'm 33 in pretty good shape, had never had any health issues until now. In the last 4 days, i've had 4 episodes that really freaked me out - twicw i was excercising and 2 i was either driving or sitting in my office. I start feeling some muscle spasms mainly in my calves, then weakness in my arms and legs, accompanied by really dry mouth and tightness of the throat. I don't think my pulse changes. The symptoms last from 2 minutes to 30 minutes. Then when these symptoms start to go away a feel really cold, and get chills all over my body, alomg with twitching all over my body. Today is the 4th day and my throat has been tight all day, but experienced the other symptoms onlty for about 30 minutes.
Do you have any idea what this can be.

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
I would suggest you get the blood levels of the following checked: potassium, calcium, sodium, vitamin B complex, or vitamins B1, B3, or B6 and Vitamin D. Generally deficiencies of any of the above can cause muscle twitching and spasms in localized or generalized areas of the body. Get your kidney function, parathyroid gland function and adrenal function tests done because these affect the electrolyte balance in the body. Stress, alcohol, caffeine and fatigue all cause similar symptoms.
It could also be a type of seizure. Please consult an internal medicine specialist and discuss this with him.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
