Enlarged Lymph Node in groin area

I need some advice/second opinion. I've had an enlarged Lymph Node in my right groin for 3-4 months now.

I noticed a red area which was sore to touch on my groin one day. This wasn't there the day before. I felt it & and it felt like I was bitten or something, skin was sore to touch. The next day I pressed on it again & noticed a lump had appeared out of nowhere. (Near my groin) The next day I noticed another lump further down on my leg. The day after, the lump lower down on my leg had gone but the lump in my groin stayed. This lump was very sore at first.
Weeks went on & the pain went away. It was just a lump.  decided to get it checked & I had the following checks:
1. Ultrasound to check what is - Confirmed an enlarged Lymph node. (2-3cm)
2. needle biopsy. Biopsy reported no signs of non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma & conclusion was  it favoured a reactive Lymph node
3. had blood test. All were normal except an extremely slight drop in the white cell count, basically borderline.

I waited another month and it was still there. So had another Ultrasound.
Ultrasound showed the size had pretty much stayed the same & had not got bigger.

Then saw a surgeon. He went through everything and wasn't too concerned. He told me to come back in a few months if it was still there or if it got any bigger.

He gave be some broad spec antibiotics to hopefully target something in that area, the antibiotics didn't work
Since then, nothing has changed. It has stayed the same size. I don't have any symptoms of anything, I feel normal in every way.

The only thing I do have sometimes is some tingly pain around the pubic area and the groin area.
I don't know what else to do. Should I just get it cut out to rule out anything bad? Should I try & find what infection I might have? Everything points to some sort of infection but I have no idea what else to do. Could it be STI related? I did contract Herpes 7-8 years ago, could this have something to do with it? Should I tell this to my GP?

Thanks!

Could be a reaction to the knee surgery.  Have they checked it to make sure its not gotten infected.  I think with a "wound" to the area they can swell too.  That is what I read about swollen lymph nodes recently.  And trust me, I have read a lot about swollen lymph nodes lately lol. I have them under my arm, in my shoulder, and behind my knees.  But I have Lupus.  Hope you better soon.

I had knee surgery 3 weeks prior to this occurring as well, maybe this might have something to do with it?

Indeed. Not only that. lymph node swelling is a symptom of all major infections usually. I had the ones in my neck, under my arms, and in my groin swollen badly for the duration of my staph infection. Perfectly fine now (except for the 40 ulcers scars that is.)

It would be a lot more likely to be something else too, since the swelling increases reather than comes suddenly. And certainly no reason for the lumps in the legs!

With HIV you have generalized lymph swelling.  Not just in one area.  But I would get tested none the less considering you are concerned about STI's.  I would have them test for Syphilis too because that IS one of the symptoms of that particular infection.  And only one antibiotic can treat syphilis.  I am surprised they did not  offer that one right from the start.

Just hope it isnt HIV as that is indeed one of the symptoms
