Extended Fever
I am curious about some bizarre symptoms I have been having for the past three weeks and am wondering what the potential causes are and what tests/treatment should be done.
Symptoms:
1. Fever for 3 weeks (hectic fever?): Morning my temperature is low (98.3 degrees) and then throughout the day increases until it peaks in the late afternoon and evening around 100 degrees
2. Swollen cervical lymph node on right side of neck (painless)
3. Swollen left tonsil (painless)
4. Night sweats
5. Broken blood vessels (petechiae?) on my arms, chest, abdomen, neck, back, and legs (more appear each day)
6. Fatigue
Tests:
1. CBC (with thyroid levels) = Normal
2. TB = Negative
3. Thyroid ultrasound = Normal
4. Currently awaiting Lyme results
Tests within the past year:
1. Brain MRI = Normal
2. EEG = Normal
Background:
1. 24 year old female
2. No international travel
3. No drug use
I have discontinued all recently prescribed medication to rule out medicine-induced fevers.

You're welcome. I hope you feel better. Next time you go to the doctor maybe ask for an ANA just to be sure. Autoimmune can cause a constant low grade fever.

Did the doctor test your ANA when doing your blood test? The fatigue made me think autoimmune. Do you have any body aches?

I would obtain blood cultures. A positive result should lead to an investigation of the heart to exclude endocarditis.
Further evaluation can be done to exclude lymphoma, and can be done with a CT scan. If the lymph nodes do not resolve, seeing a surgeon for a possible biopsy can be considered.
