Extremely tired, shaky and nauseous

I don't know what's going on with me but the last few days I've been extremely tired to the point where I feel like my muscles are made out of lead and I can barely lift my limbs. I'm also feeling shaky and nauseous, sick to my stomach, and not wanting to eat but I am making myself eat regularly. I have no energy but I'm forcing myself to go through the day to day things I have to do.
What in the world is wrong with me?

I thought I was feeling a bit better yesterday and today but then by this evening that overwhelming exhaustion overcame me and I felt sick to my stomach again. Still feel tired and nauseous. I sure wish I could figure out what the heck is going on because I don't like feeling like this! Yuck.

I hope you can get some answers.  I don't know if money is an issue concerning going to the doctor for you; but, it sounds like you need a good check up and actual labs and test done.

I know the exact feeling you are speaking of.  My body would feel so heavy like it was filled with cement.  Even washing my own hair my arms get heavy and I have to let them dangle.  I would go shopping with my mother and (at the time 88 yr. old) grandmother and have to tell them I needed to sit down.  A few minutes rest and I could get up again.  I never found out the *exact* cause of it.  This started about 6-7 years ago with me.

I did find out over time I have hypothyroidism, hypertension along with drops in BP, low iron, high calcium, some heart issues, womanly issues (still pending) and last but not least now diabetes.  I wish I could tell you what caused what.  (Chicken or egg type thing)  Self test are nice to be able to do but, it sounds like you need a Dr. to figure this out for you.  I wasn't to bright lol and waited... thinking I could fix it myself for a few years.  Thus brings me to the chicken and egg type..what caused what?

The only thing I can say is please go and get checked out by a doctor sweety.
I hope you feel better soon.  ;~)

Thanks everybody, thanks doctor. I actually don't have dizziness. It's more overwhelming tiredness with some shakiness feeling, nausea, etc.
I thought about that A1JoMama. I do have a lot of diabetes in my family. I'm pretty much the only one who didn't get it. I do try to keep a watch on my blood sugar and get it tested once a year. So far, it's been fine.

If you want to test your own blood sugar, Walmart has a complete kit that sells for around $30. I think it gives you 15 or 20 strips & the monitor? I know its enough to give you at least enough to monitor yourself for a bit. It is a "disposable" kit.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Dizziness could be due to postural hypotension (blood pressure falling with change of position), internal ear problems and cervical spondylitis. All these cause dizziness when you get up from lying down position. Cervical spondylitis and ear problems also cause dizziness on changing the position of the neck.

Other causes are anemia, GERD, hypoglycemia or low sugar and some endocrine problems. There are many self testing kits available in the market for testing blood sugar. Also if eating and drinking something helps then it could be low sugar or GERD. Hypothyroidism too can behave this way.

You need a prompt evaluation, say within an hour of the symptoms—maybe you could go to ER, to know the cause. There are many 24 hour blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring tests available.
Certain types of epilepsies and seizures too can cause similar symptoms. Again a prompt evaluation is required within an hour of the symptom.
The other thing I would be concerned about in your case is transient ischemic attack wherein the blood supply to brain is temporarily cut off. The episodes last for a maximum of 24 hours and then resolve or a new symptom starts. To diagnose this you need a prompt evaluation (within 60 minutes) to identify the cause and determine appropriate therapy. CAT Scans or MRI done later or when you are fine will not reveal anything.

I think you should discuss this with your doctor. Get your blood pressure checked. Also you may need to get some tests done. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

It is similar. Are you referring to my journal from last Summer? I said that I will be walking in the mall with my daughter or something and all of a sudden that overwhelming tiredness would come over me and I would feel shaky and have to sit down. It's almost like I'm getting low blood sugar or something but I don't have a way of testing it. I did get blood work done last Summer and I guess it must have been ok because they never called me back with the results. I don't know what else to do. I don't think I can go back to my doctor and ask for more blood work when I just had it done last Summer.

Any suggestions? I hate feeling like this!

My goodness.

It's terrible to feel yucky, ill and helpless. I just signed myself out of the hospital AMA after a five day stay, so I know how you feel.

You ask a "how many angels are on the head of a pin question".

I want you to promise to go to a hospital or clinic and get a complete work-up. That's what you need. Not scarey wild guess advice.

There are serious things that could cause your problems and minor things. It would be pointless to run you through the Merck manual and get you upset.

You require a complete blood panel, and your local physician will know exactly what to do.

Many times these problems are self-limiting and resolve themselves. You could just "have a bug".

The question as to how long one should wait before seeking professional advice is arguable. Certainly if the symptoms persist for two weeks that would suggest that something has to be done.
