How does one go about finding a decent Doctor, who understands Fibromyalgia, and will actually help you? I have been bounced around, and basically brushed off by at least 5 Doctors in the past 6 years. The last Doctor I saw, actually tossed me a sample pack of Cymbalta, (Which I am not to take with another medication I am taking... ) and said that there was nothing else he could do. I see why people get so frustrated and depressed about this. I can't take going to one more Doctor, who is going to roll their eyes at me.
Some doctors who treat Lyme Disease are also familiar with Fibromyalgia. You could try to find an LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor) in your area. They are usually excellent listeners and believe what their patients are telling them. www.ILADS.org can give you referrals.
There's also Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt who does a lot of alternative, nutritional, and natural therapies. He has an office in Kirkland. If you're the type who wants to just stick with prescription meds, he's not for you. But he sure has an awful lot of patients who feel a whole lot better with his approach.
You could do some research to see what fibro patients are saying about him. Good luck! I hope you find the right doc for you.
