Flexed big toe

This is a weird one. I have noticed that when I walk in my work shoes, I walk with my big toe completely flexed up. I have to concentrate really hard to keep in down when I wal. The only reason I noticed is because my calf muscle started cramping. However, it feel more normal for me to walk with it flexed. Could there be a reason behind this?

Does it do the same when someone runs a blunt object up the outside of your foot along the outside?  Could it be a very strong Plantar reflex?
