Foot and hand rash

I have what I thought to be athletes foot. I have bought Lamasil and the rash has not gotten better. It is red and bumpy. My skin is very dry and cracky. It started out on my big toe and is spreading to toe #4. I also have it on one of my fingers. Sometimes it itches and sometimes not. Does anyone have any idea of what else it could be since athletes foot medicine is not working. Could it  be eczema? Please help me. Thanks.

I am a podiatrist, but without seeing the lesions, it is difficult to narrow down the possible diagnoses. Do you have similar lesions on the elbows, arms, or elsewhere?  Such a finding MIGHT indicate psoriasis, but not necessarily so. It could be an all together different problem. Occasionally, trying a different anti-fungal cream does the trick, if the problem is fungus.  Sometimes an anti-fungal with steroid helps.  I suggest seeing a podiatrist or dermatologist

How long have you had these symptoms?  What does the rash look like, specifically?  There is a viral infection called Hand, foot and mouth disease which is red bumps, which turn into pustules, and burst...these can occur on your hands and feet, and even in your mouth.  Do you have any mouth ulcers?
