HELP Swollen nodes for years

I have had a swollen node on the right side of my neck for 2 yrs. Its rubbery feeling but moves around a lot. I have recently found a few more in my lower neck( they may or may not have been there for as long) They do not hurt at all. Im scared this could be a type of cancer or something. I have no other symptoms.

I went to my doctor who felt the nodes and said they were very movable and not to worry. She said they prob. just stayed that way after an infection. I have also been suffering from sinus infections latley so that could have also been the cause of a few more popping up.

Hello,
Mostly the lymph node swelling are found after an infection. Sinus infections usually cause swollen lymph nodes in the neck. So best would be to get a FNAC of the lymph node done which will confirm the diagnosis.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your physician. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Thank you, Is it true that if the node is at the base of your neck it is more likely to be cancer? Or could it still be caused by something as simple as a sinus infection>

Hello,
Lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection. Other causes include allergic reactions, arthritis, cancer, metabolic diseases, and an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). Soft nodes are most likely infection or inflammation, firm but rubbery nodes could be lymphoma and rock hard nodes are more likely from some other type of metastatic cancer not lymphoma.
I suggest you to get them evaluated from a physician and get fine needle aspiration cytology of the lymph nodes done.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Warm regards.
