Have I broken or cracked my knuckle?

I'm not entirely sure how I did it, but I am concerned my pinky knuckle is broken. It could have been from work the other day, where i crushed my hand between two roll cages, or a gym injury in one of my subsequent workouts.

Weirdly, I only noticed a bit on pain the day after the work injury, and it further increased yesterday, and to the point it is today. It goes against my previous experience of broken hand bones, and against natural logic, as the pain isn't exceptionally bad, in fact when my hand isn't in use I wouldn't even realise there is an injury. However I've noticed little things like grabbing my phone from my pocket, drying my hands with paper towels, or even palming the steering wheel whilst driving cause some pain.

Furthermore, there isn't a great deal of swelling, there is a slight amount of swelling, and a small amount of bruising, but nothing major. What does concern me is that it appears as if my knuckle has sunken a bit, my finger is also quite stiff, and fully clenching it does cause minor pain.

I had initially planned on waiting a few days to see whether the swelling reduces and it is in fact just a bruise.

Should I go to the hospital, or should I just wait it out for a few days and see what happens?

Hello~First, I would take an anti-inflammatory, such as aspirin a couple times a day, this will help take the pain and swelling down. Next, I would see a chiropractor, funny as it sounds, you could very well  have caused some of the little bones in your hands to become out of joint and this will surely hurt, he/she can take and x-ray of that area and determine if this is the case; a simple adjustment should have your hand better in no time. If you don't want to see a chiropractor, usually an osteopathic physician can do the same procedures.

Compare it to your other pinkie knuckle. Feel the knuckles for a noticeable difference. Maybe wait a day or two before having it checked out.
