Head Pains

Hi, I'm 18 and I was wondering if there is something wrong with me.  For the past 2 years on and off, (it became more frequent the past couple of months) my brain has been getting a sharp pain.  It's not a headache or a migraine because I know how they feel and also I get them out of the blue.  These pains lasts for a couple of seconds and just leaves.  I also notice since having them, I've been getting more clumsy and alittle more forgetful (but I could be forgetful for other reasons).  It's getting bad because I usually get these sharp pains in my left side of my brain, sometimes the entire left side up to my right temple area.  And I get them frequently almost 5 times in 2 minutes...even when I'm driving!  My senses also stop abruptly, for example..when the teacher is talking I can't hear him because my head is buzzing.  I don't do drugs, smoke, or drink alcohol.  On Monday, I'm scheduling an appointment with my doctor to get a brain scan.  But I wanted to tell you of my problem because I wanted to know what you doctors think I have.  I'll be alittle paranoid on this--- but I think I may have an early brain tumor but I can't diagnose myself.  What do you think these symptoms are?

Sounds like ice pick headaches.  They are common in migraine sufferers and benign but scary. I used to have these years ago frequently. I still have these occassionally. But do mention these to the doc.
