Headaches and hair loss

For the past 3 months or so I have been have more frequent migraines and excessive hair loss. Everytime I brush or run my fingers through my hair I see big bunches of hair come out. I had an MRI of the brain done last year in July because of my migraines, but the report found no abnormalities. I have no idea if the migraines are connected to the hair loss, but it seems as if the hair loss came at the same time as the frequency of migraines increased.  It's really frustrating to see my hair going down the drain and not know how to stop it. I'm a 27 year old female, with no history of early hair loss in my family.  I know that this site can't be used for diagnosis, but could someone please point me in the right direction of where to begin?

Hi,
I have had a problem with hair loss after I wash my hair , and then comb it, a lot of hair is on my comb afterwords. I thought that it could be from stress or hair color. Do you use hair color?

I'm experiencing the same symptoms.  MRI came back negative.  I'm a male medical student and consequently find myself at an advantage at figuring out a diagnosis.  Although you're a female and I'm male the common condition between us might be hormonal.  An issue with our thyroid or pituatary might be inducing these symptoms.  My symptoms where gradual, and are exacerbated during cardiovascular activity.  The increase bloodflow during working out implies that it might be linked to blood flow regulated hormonal imbalance.  This might be caused by the thyroid gland or pituatary.  A blood test showed low levels of TSH and FSH which can be indicative of issues with my glands.  An endocrinologist is the right specialist to discuss this with.  I recommend you see one and get a blood test.

I experienced the same thing. At first my doctor that said Im suppose to lose about 100 hair strands a day. Well, I noticed that it exceeded it but my doctor kept telling me not to worry about it. So instead of getting turned down by him all the time, I did research and found some MAGNETS that is suppose to have some powerful healing. I worn the magnet rings for about 1 month and notice that I sleep better, less headaches, and less hair loss. Seems like everything is back to normal.
YOu can do your research on it. There is a forum regarding the power of magnets. http://realimmortality.com/jadesproductions/
Hope it helps

Would consider testing your thyroid...hair loss is a classic symptom.  A simple blood test will let you know.  I woudln't wait as symptoms only worsen if left untreated.  Good luck!

I do not know about the headaches but I have gone through periods of time where I lose lots of hair.  Rogaine for women is a miracle.  Walmart and Target both have an off brand that is less then 20 dollars for a three month supply.  You will be amazed.  I have always been told that my hair loss was stresss related although i believe it is genetic, but it is worth a try.

Have you had any other symptoms?  I also have bad headaches - may be complicated migraines - and hair loss - along with weight gain, neurological symptoms, fatigue, etc....the list goes on.  I have been doing some reading and have read quite a bit about stress and hair loss.  Just wondering if maybe you are dealing with more stress than normal and if that could be part of the problem.  Heck, I know that when things are happening and you don't know what's causing it - can actually CAUSE STRESS!  Sorry I can't help with much...just a thought.
