Heavy sweating

by Keisler, Feb 22, 2006 12:00AM
I started taking Zoloft (now at 100mg/day) about 6 months ago, and began sweating more than usual, and I also felt hot. Now I don't feel "hot" anymore, but I do sweat a lot. It's unprovoked, if you will, started once I get up in the morning, and sometimes even at night while I'm sleeping.

It's really embarrassing, and nothing I do seems to help. I switched deodorant, tried drinking more water, etc.

I've also started weaning off Zoloft. I am having no problems with it (down to about 50mg/day), but the sweating isn't any better.

I also moved to Arizona from Indiana a month and a half ago, so that's definitely not helping.

Thanks.

Male? Female? Age?

It could be a side-effect of the Zoloft.......and it will take awhile before the sweating stops.....your body has to adjust to less Zoloft.  If you are cutting back to quickly, that could be causing your sweating to not cease.    If you are female in your late 40's early 50's, then I'm guessing it is hormonal.   Just remember sweating means the body is in distress......so it's important to get to the bottom of it.

Have you had your thyroid checked? Depression & excessive sweating is two common symptoms. Check out Thyroid 101 for further symptoms of high thyroid.
