Thank you for your response. I was just curious due to the fact that I have never had hives last this long. I new of everything else to look into, I just went and looked at it another whole direction. Apparently, whatever has caused them is gone. The medications I am taking help. Have a great day!
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Well, certain STDs like herpes and syphilis can cause hives. If there is a suggestive history of sexual contact, please get a STD panel to rule this out. However, hives can be due to several other causes too-- drugs, foods, insect bites, inhaled substances, in response to sunlight, cold, heat, stress, exercise, or a viral infection. Other common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, or cosmetics. Food allergies like to gluten and alcohol too should be looked into. Please go over this and see if there is any possibility you faced any of the above allergens.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Take care!
