How do you get into a neurologist?

I have been having a ton of symptoms (greatly varied) and have felt badly for about three years now.  I have been to many specialists and have had many tests - nothing to go on though.  So based on some of my problems now, I thought maybe seeing a neurologist might help.  I am in Canada and have no idea how to get into one or their availability.  It may also be difficult to get a referral, depending on the doctor.  Any ideas out there?

Also, if someone could tell me a little more about what a neurologist may do, or has done for them?

Thanks

I have personaaly been to a neurologist but I am from the U.S. so I am not sure how it works up there but I had to have a referral.  But, it is really strange how I got to that point----I had a surgery to remove a ovary that had been romoved once and then grew back----weird huh?  Well after the surgery they had me move from one be to the other bed in my room by myself and in that process my nerve in my left leg was badly damaged which cause my entire left leg to be numb---no feeling.......I ended up with the neurologist who put me on anti-depressants....scared me......because the first time he saw me he felt my leg----it was cold....so he rushed to a telephone to call another doctor to see if some veins had been damaged as well.......I was having to walk with a cane and missed lots of work because of all this mess.......I then was sent to a Sports Therapist (physical therapist) who worked with my leg and hip----socking it, stretching it, pressing down and pulling the scare tissure that had grown on the damaged nerve away from the left butt bone....I felt that the neurologist did not do a whole lot....considering that the nerve was damaged and he did nothing.......I will add that the hospital denied any wrong doing!!!!!  Go figure!!!!  I wish you luck in your search for answers......just be aware of everything.......and if you do get in to see one.....have questions written down and be ready to get some answers.......

MS does occur in teens, and young adults, it is just uncommon. Next time you have a flair up, just go to the ER, and insist on an MRI. Tell them you won't leave without one. You have to be a nusciance to get what you want no matter what healthcare system you're in.
