I have dizziness, enlarged tonsils, and elevated IGG4. Why?

In late Feb 2016 I woke up with extreme dizziness.  I assumed I had food poisoning. After 2-3 days I was able to return to work, however some symptoms persisted.  In particular, my head remained "fuzzy" and I constantly felt off balance.  Although I didn't fall over, when I walked on my right leg it often felt like I was treading on a soft surface (like bouncing slightly, despite the ground being solid).

Other symptoms included enlarged tonsils.  I was still able to talk but there was a constant sense of mild discomfort.  A small (painless) lump also emerged on the back of my neck, also on the right side.

I was bounced around GPs before eventually being referred to an ENT, who did an MRI and various hearing tests, before concluding that I had an inner ear problem (confirmed by vestibular function tests) and referring me for balance physio therapy.

However, there are two complications.  Firstly, he does not know what is causing the tonsils to be enlarged.  Secondly, somewhere in the process an IGG4 test was done, and came back with a reading of 2.16 (versus a normal upper bound of 1.3).  The ENT does not know what IGG4 is and has been unable to tell me what the results may mean, and whether 2.16 is particularly elevated.

I was hoping someone on here might be able to advise me as to (a) why my tonsils are persistently becoming enlarged, (b) what the IGG4 result may mean, and (c) whether there may be any connection to the inner ear problems I have been having?

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

There are 4 classes of IgG. IgG4 is the fourth is lesser quantity of it in the body. Your value depending on your reference range sounds normal. Do you know what your reference range is for your lab results? Usually, 2.2 if you round up is normal to a large number like 100.  tonsils get enlarged like lymph nodes. a. Tonsils get enlarged like lymph nodes. So any kind of infection like a cold to any kind of infection or even if your body is just fighting something off you can get swelling in the tonsils. Some people are more sensitive than others.
b. see response above.
c. I doubt that the IgG4 is related to your ear problem since it sounds normal. But it would be helpful to have your reference range.
