Is this common with fibromyalgia?

Hi,
After many years of tests, my rheumatalogist says I have fibromyalgia and there is nothing he can do.  My latest sed rate was 63.  Is this amount of inflammation common in Fibro?  I didn't think it was.  Thank you. Paminpain

Have you been tested for Lupus? They tend to have similar symptoms.

I don't know anything about SED rate and Fibromyalgia, however if you do have it, you need to be treated.   I was diagnosed several years ago and have found enormous relief.   I take anti-depressants, muscle relaxers, sleeping pills and transdermal patches for the pain.   There is nothing for the fatigue, but when the pain is reducted you will feel much better.

I have fibro and have never had an elevated sed rate. An elevated sed rate is inflammation somewhere in your body. I do want to tell you that accupucture as done wonders for my fibro. I would wake up at night and my fingers and arms would be locked in one position. My husband (bless his heart) would rub me and listen to me scream until I could get them unlocked. The accupucture as cut these nights down to a few.

I am not aware of Fibromyalgia being associated with an elevated SED-rate. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. An elevated SED-rate is seen in autoimmune diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, and other similar diseases. Some people do have Seronegative Arthritis, meaning that blood tests don't point to any specific disease, but symptoms prove it is there. For example, only 60-70% of RA patients test positive for the Rheumatoid Factor. Have you had x-rays to rule out RA and other deforming Arthritis? Do you have other symptoms besides pain that can aid in diagnosis? The first Rheumatologist I saw told me that she couldn't find anything wrong, and that it must be Osteoarthritis. I was 25 at the time, and had been having prolems for over 10 years. Needless to say, I didn't take her word for it, did some research on my own, and found a new Dr. I was later diagnosed with MCTD.
