Itchy red rash all over body except face

I am going into my third week of a crazy-itchy rash that began on the inside of my forearm just below my elbow.  Now it is everywhere but my face.  It is worst around my armpits at the back, both sides, down the sides of my torso, under my breasts, groin area, buttocks and behind my knees.  I can't sleep with the itchiness.  I am also missing my period and waiting on a blood test to determine if I'm pregnant.  Therefore not going pharmaceutical until I'm 100% sure.  I'm wondering about liver function or gallbladder.  I'm not allergic - my husband thinks it is viral, but it's been so long now.  No one else in the family has gotten the rash.
This kind of thing is very unusual for me - not allergic to things, although am gluten intolerant.  No previous skin problems.
Any thoughts?

Thanks for your comments.  I thought I'd follow up in case someone else is experiencing the same thing.  At the of week three the rash is mostly gone, visibly.  The itch remains but much milder than it was.  I finally got in to see my MD today.  Since it is pretty much gone, he said to just leave it alone.  If it comes back again it will warrant further investigation.  Having said that I did have blood work done at a walk-in and it showed nothing out of the ordinary.

I hope it is gone forever!

Any allergy can begin at any time, just because you haven't had an allergic retain before doesn't me you never will. Reactions often get worse with subsequent exposure to the allergen. You should probably see your doctor, especially since you might be pregnant. Oatmeal baths can be very soothing, but I would see an MD.

Do you drink a lot of sodas or drinks containing caffeine?? I have a friend and he drinks sodas as if they were going out of style, lol.... She broke out in rash/hives everywhere except her face as well. Her Ob-gyn said it was the acid from the sodas. She drinks dark ones too, Coke, Pepsi, Tea....Just a thought???
