You probably bruised the bone and will be very sore for a while. Try taking ibuprophen or naproxen as they will help with the pain. Have you had an xray?
I am sorry that happened to you (or anybody)! I'm assuming you saw a doc after this happened? If not, probably wouldn't hurt to see one now. Google TMJ Syndrome or TMJ Disorder. Sometimes a hard knock to the side of the face can cause TMJ. If that is what you have, I sympathize completely, as I have it also. Although mine wasn't caused from being hit in the face.
