Large hives

My husband has broken out with hives and around his waist has some very large open sores that are oozy. A small amount of redness. It is not so painful so am thinking it is not shingles. Just very large looking sores. Can this be hives that may have gotten infected?

Hello,

Although very rare, but sometimes hives can be there which can become so badly aggrevated that they can ooze fluid. However, without examination ,confirming a diagnosis is tough. So I would sincerely advise you to consult a dermatologist soon.If it turns out to be hives, then antihistaminics and steroids may be needed.Otherwise the fluid oozing from the blisters has to undergo microscopic examination to determine the cause.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep us posted if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
