I looked up sciatica and found that it can cause pain in the inside of the thigh to the groin. You might want to try a chiropractor.
You didn't say if you are taking vitamins and minerals. - I hate chemicals - so I try to find natural alternatives.
A Magnesium and Potassium deficiency can cause all kinds of problems, including muscle spasms. I used to get a spasm in the groin from the inside of my knee up. Hurt so bad - once I started taking Magnesium it seems to have resolved itself. - Just saying... I don't know if it would work for you, but it's worth a try.
also i would like to add i have sever anxiety and been diagnosed with GAD ,generalized anxiety disorder & the doctor had told me that stress sometimes affects one side of the body but i do not think the numbness is stress related since it is so consistent.
Its actually just my thigh, knee and sometimes calf that is painful everything else is just a real annoying numbness. These problems got a lot worse within this year so maybethe CT scan I had didnt show anything because it wasnt a problem back then maybe ? i just wish I had insurance to get it checked out. i also feel lightheaded a lot
i appreciate your post very much , its actually my thigh that is popping not my hip and the pain will ease and come and go sometimes but when its hurting its real bad
This is a very interesting presentation of symptoms which you are having. If you were only have pain down the back of one leg I would agree with silverfox thats it could be a sciatic nerve issue. Even for someone your age unless you've had some kind of trauma or the deep muscles in your hip are REALLY tight its probably not typical sciatica.
The thing thats most worrisome to me is the widespread pain that your having. The fact that your feeling this pain all the way up and down one side of your body is a pretty serious issue. Pain in the face, arm and legs involves cranial and spinal nerves, so its not like one slipped disc would cause all of that. Also I'm not sure what to think of the fact that the pain actually crosses over to the right side of your body sometimes as well. All of these things are red flags to me, especially if youve been having these problems for an extended period of time.
Finally the heart murmur and Bells Palsy are both disorders of the nervous system and thats what this is really sounding like. Theres always a possibility that you have some genetic susceptibility to these types of disorders considering your past medical history. I always recommend getting away from allopathic approach of treating symptoms of disease with prescription medicine and actually seeing someone who will really figure whats going on. I have a bias towards chiropractors but they are experts of the nervous system so that might be a good direction to head.
PS I hope you aren't popping that hip too often. That could erode the bone and eventually cause you to need a hip replacement!
I am surprised that the CT scan didn't show anything. It certainly sounds like sciatica. A pinched nerve caused by what used to be called a "slipped disc" - actually a compressed disc - can cause all kinds of pain and numbness.
My sciatica hurts my right buttocks all the way down to the instep of my right foot. - But because we are all different, your symptoms can be different although the diagnosis may be the same - a pinched nerve in the lower back.
MSM, Essiac, or muscle relaxers help.
However, the best thing to do is exercise. Swimming or slow relaxed walking do much to help sciatica.
Stretching the calves also helps as it pulls gently on the back muscles right where the pinched nerve is. - Stand on some stairs where you can hold onto something for balance. Now place your feet so that your heels are slightly off the stairs. Drop one heel at a time bouncing slightly as you stretch each calf. - Now drop both heels several times... you will feel the pull on the muscles in your back. At first it will amaze you at how tired your legs and calves will feel. But as you continue to exercise daily, you will gain strength and your sciatica will diminish.
I hope this is helpful to you.
