Lightheaded

Alright, this is kind of long, but here it goes. I have had a history of head injuries. Usually involving getting physically beaten in the head while too drunk to fight back. One time, I had knots on the head, a broken nose and bad concussion from a fight. The people from a store I stumbled into bloody requested I be taken to a hospital, but I never went. I also had a history of bad ear infections and had tubes inserted into my ears when I was a kid.

One day 2 years ago, I woke up and the room was violently spinning. I feel right back into the bed. I was healthy before then. For a few months, I had some sort of vertigo where the room would spin if I moved my head a certain way. This went away. Then I banged my head a couple of weeks ago. A couple of days after that, I have had constant lightheadedness. There has been some pressure on the top of my head, where I hit it and also the back. It went away for a day and then came back even worse. Last night, I could barely keep my head up. Today is a bit better, but not by a lot. I get headaches, but I think that is from video games more than anything else. I also have memory issues that started before the incident 2 years ago.

Here's the kicker though. I have a history of anxiety problems. Sometimes I create symptoms on my own like is normal for anxiety people. But since I do have a history of head injuries and ear infections, I'm not sure when the line between anxiety and real health problems is at. The realist in me suggests that having these sorts of problems for 2 years with no real increase in the worsening of the problems is this being nothing serious. It's still scary though.

Is this just anxiety or would my past injuries, heavy drinking and heavy pot smoking catch up to me?

I haven't smoked pot or drank in years. I used to do both.

Would something like this be worthy of the Non Emergency ER? I make very little and couldn't afford to see a GP and then see a Neurologist and such and Medicaid is a lengthy process.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if it is catching up with you.  You should stop drinking and smoking pot, that is a hallucinogenic drug and it can harm your brain.

Personally, if I had lightheadedness that bad, I would be footing into the doctors office and getting some help.  This is nothing to mess with.  I know that sometimes when I have anxiety, my muscles tense up and I have an altered state of consciousness, but what you describe may not fit the anxiety card.

Just go to the doctor to be safe.  It could be blood pressure, or maybe you have something else wrong.

Also, I haven't had health insurance since I was a kid. I can't afford it and haven't looked into medicaid yet. I can't even remember the last time I saw a doctor.
